ANSWER

for example lets take 11/12 as a and -3/4 as b and the rational number that we have to find as x

then a + x = b  we get this equation

so x = b-a

= -3/4 - 11/12

=4

so the rational number that should be subtracted from 11/12 to get -3/4 is 4

4is the answer
