hey mate..!! ☺
Let c be speed of light in vaccum and v be speed of light in benzene.

Refractive index of benzene=1.5=speed of light in vaccum/speed of light in benzene.

c/v=1.5
v=2/3c

Percentage reduce in speed of light

=(c-v/c)*100

=(1/3)*100=33.33%

That's all

Answer : 33.33%

Explaination :

Refractive index of a medium is given by the relations : 1n2 = v1 / v2.

where v1 and v2 is velocity in medium 1 and 2 respectively.

1n2 = 1.5. Let v1 = c. Then:

v2 = c / 1.5 .

v1 - v2 = c/3.

Calculate the percentage reduction. You will get 33.33%
