angle of refraction=60

angle of incident=30

sin(30)=x*sin(60)

x=√3

where x is refractive index of glass

Answer:

The refractive index of the glass will be 1.732.

Explanation:

A ray of light strikes a glass plate at an angle of 60° with the glass surface. If the reflected and refracted rays are at right angles to each other.

The angle of refraction =sin\ 30^{\circ}

The angle of incidence =sin\ 60^{\circ}

The refractive index of the glass will be

n= \dfrac{sin\ i}{sin\ r}

n= \dfrac{sin\ 60^{\circ}}{sin\ 30^{\circ}}

n= \dfrac{\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2}}{\dfrac{1}{2}}

n=1.732

Hence, The refractive index of the glass will be 1.732.
