A ray of light strikes a plane mirror XY at an angle of incidence of
30°, is reflected from the plane mirror and then strikes a second plane mirror YZ placed at right angles to the first mirror. What is the angle of reflection for the mirror YZ?

Answer:

60°

Explanation:

Mirror XY:

i = 30°

Since angle if incidence = angle of reflection

i1 = r1

r1 = 30°

Mirror YZ: (Placed at right angles to XY)

The reflected ray of XY serves as the incident ray for YZ mirror.

Since r1 = 30°, i2 = 90° - 30°

i2 = 60° = r2

Hence the angle of reflection of YZ is 60°

Hope it helps :)
