Given :

- Angle of incidence in air, i = sin^-1 (3/5)

- Refractive index of air, u(air) = 1

- Refractive index of water, u(water) = 4/3

To find :

• The angle of refraction in water

Solution :

According to Snell's law,

u1 × sin i = u2 × sin r

Here it is,

u(air) × sin i = u(water) × sin r

1 × 3/5 = (4/3) × sin r

sin r = 9/20 = 0.45

r = sin^-1 (9/20)

Or

r = sin^-1 (0.45)
