A ray of light travels from the air into glass. For an angle of incidence of 37 degree, the angle of refraction is 24 degree. What is the refractive index of glass? ( Given that sin 37 degree =0.60 and sin 24 degree = 0.40)

Answer:

1.5

Explanation:

Refractive index of glass =

 \frac{sin \: i}{sin \: r}

 \frac{0.60}{0.40}

 \frac{3}{2}  = 1.5

1.5

Explanation:

The refractive index is sin i upon sin r where i is the angle of incidence and r is angle of refraction show the refractive index of glass is the sin of 37° upon the sign of 24 degrees which is 0.60 upon 0.40.

 \frac{0.60}{0.40} =  \frac{0.60 \times 100}{0.40 \times 100}  =  \frac{60}{40 }  =  \frac{6}{4}  = 1.5
