Subject: Declining reading habits among teenagers
Dear Sir:
I am writing to your good self to express my deep concern over the problem of teenagers’ increasing addiction to gadgets, which has impacted many aspects of their life. Mobile phones, I pads, laptops, and TVs have done the maximum damage. Not only the health of the teenagers has been affected adversely, but their mental health has also been undermined.
Owing to this addiction to gadgets, their habit of reading has declined alarmingly. A recent survey has confirmed that far fewer teenagers read books than in the former times. Reading is an essential basic skills building activity. One’s language fluency is determined by the quality of reading. Besides, vocabulary enrichment, ideas collection, familiarization with different types of writing formats, speaking fluency, etc, all depend upon reading.
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I appeal to people and the Government to make policies to encourage reading among the youngsters. Kindly give my views enough space in your daily.
