Answer:

breadth is 40 cm

step by step explanation :

perimeter of square= 4*side

4*60 cms

that is 240cms

perimeter of rectangle= 2(l+b)

2(80+b)

160 + 2b = 240

2b = 240-160 = 80

b = 80/2

so the breadth of rectangle is 40 cm

Given:-

  • Side of square = 60 cm
  • Length of Rectangle = 80 cm

To find:-

Breadth of rectangle

Assumption:-

Let the breadth be x

Solution:-

Side of square = 60 cm

We know,

\sf{Perimeter\:of\:Square = (4\times side)\:units}

= \sf{Perimeter = (4\times60)\:cm}

= \sf{Perimeter = 240 \:cm}

\sf{Perimeter\: of \:square = Perimeter \:of \:Rectangle}

= \sf{4\times Side = 2(Length + Breadth)}

= \sf{240 = 2(80 + x)}

= \sf{\dfrac{240}{2} = 80 + x}

= \sf{120 = 80 + x}

= \sf{x = 120 - 80}

= \sf{x = 40\:cm}

\sf{\therefore The\:breadth\:of\:the\:rectangle\:is\:40\:cm}

Additional Informations:-

  • \sf{Area\:of\:rectangle = (Length\times Breadth)\:sq.units}

  • \sf{Perimeter\:of\:rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)\:units}

  • \sf{Area\:of\:square = ( Side)^2\:\:sq.units}

  • \sf{Perimeter\:of\:square = (4\times Side)\:units}
