Rectangle formulae:

Let a and b respectively be the length and width of a rectangle.

  • Perimeter = 2 (a + b)
  • Area = ab

Given:

  • length = 3p² + 1
  • width = p³ + 4

Solution:

Then perimeter of the given rectangle be

= 2 (length + width)

= 2 (3p² + 1 + p³ + 4)

= 2 (p³ + 3p² + 5)

= 2p³ + 6p² + 10

and the area of the given rectangle be

= length × width

= (3p² + 1) (p³ + 4)

= 3p⁵ + 12p² + p³ + 4

= 3p⁵ + p³ + 12p² + 4
