ANSWER:

  • Length of rectangle = 12.25 cm

GIVEN:

  • Length of rectangle is 3cm more than the width.
  • Perimeter of rectangle = 43 cm.

TO FIND:

  • Length of rectangle.

SOLUTION:

Let x be the breadth of the rectangle.

Length = x+3

Formula:

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length+Breadth)

Putting the values in the formula:

=> 43 cm = 2(x+3+x)

=> 2(2x+3) = 43 cm

=> 4x+6 = 43 cm

=> 4x = 43-6

=> 4x = 37

=> x = 37/4

=> x = 9.25 cm

Breadth = 9.25 cm

Length = 9.25 + 3

= 12.25 cm

Length of rectangle = 12.25 cm

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

Area of Square = (Side)²

Area of rectangle = Length*Breadth

Area of rhombus = Base*Altitude

Area of parallelogram = Base*Altitude

Area of Triangle = (Base*Altitude)/2

Perimeter of Square = 4(side)

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length+breadth)
