A rectangle has an area of 513.5m2.
One of the sides is 7.9m in length.
Work out the perimeter of the rectangle.

Given:

  • A rectangle has an area ,a = 513.5 m²

  • Length, l = 7.9 m

To find out:

Work out the perimeter of the rectangle?

Formula used:

  • Area of rectangle = length × breadth

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth )

Solution:

Let the breadth be b .

According to the question,

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

⇒ 513.5 = 7.9 × breadth

⇒ breadth = 513.5/7.9

⇒ breadth = 5135/79

⇒ breadth, b = 65 m

Now,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth)

= 2 ( 7.9 + 65 )

= 2 × 72.9

= 145.8 m

Hence the perimeter of rectangle is 145.8 m.
