let the length of original rectangle be
" L " and breadth be "B"
original breadth = B cm
original length L = ( 2B - 5 ) cm -eq(1)
according to question ,
if the length is decreased by 5cm and breadth is increased by 2 cm
new length = (2B - 5 ) - 5= 2B- 10
new breadth = B + 2
resulting perimeter of rectangle=74 cm
2( new length + new breadth) = 74 cm
2 (2B - 10 + B + 2 ) = 74
( 3B - 8 ) = 74/2
3B - 8 = 37
3B = 45
B = 15 cm
put Value of " B " in eq(1) , we get
L= (2(15) - 5 )
L = 25 cm
therefore , length of original rectangle
= 25 cm and breadth = 15 cm
