Let breadth of the reactangle be x.

Then,

x+3+x=54

2x+3=54

2x=54-3

x=51/2
and length =51/2+3
=19.

Define x:

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x

The length of the rectangle = x + 3

Solve x:

Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

Given that the perimeter is 54 cm

54 = 2( x + (x + 3) )

54 = 2 (x + x + 3)

54 = 2(2x + 3)

2x + 3 = 27

2x = 24

x = 12

Find the breadth:

Breadth = x = 12 cm

Answer: The breadth is 12 cm
