Question

A rectangle has the area equal to the area of a square of side 80cm. If the breadth of the rectangle is 20cm, its length is _____.

Answer

perimeter \: of \: rect. \:  = perimeter \: of \: sq. \:   - 80 \: cm

 = 2(l + b) \: 45 = 80

s =  \frac{80}{4}   =  20 \: cm \: 2(l + b) = 80

(l + b) = 40 \: cm - (1)

differences \: m \: areas = 100 \: cm {}^{2}

5 {}^{2}  - (lb) = 100

(20)(20) - (lb) - 100

 = lb = (300 - (2)

from \: (1)and(2)

30 + 10 = 40 \:  \: 3 \times 10 =l \times b

 = 1 = 30 \: and \: b = 10

sides \: of \: rect. \: are \: 30 \:  \: 10 \: cm
