Answer:

length of original rectangle is 24m and breadth is 20m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be length of rectangle and y be breadth of rectangle.

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

from first condition,

xy = (x+6) (y-4)

xy = xy+6y-4x-24

eliminate xy from equations.

Then, 6y-4x = 24 -------- equation 1

from second condition,

xy = xy+8y-5x-40

eliminate xy from equations

Then, 8y-5x = 40 -------- equation 2

multiplying equation (1) by 5 and equation (2) by 4.

we get,

30y-20x = 120 -------- equation 3

32y-20x = 160 -------- equation 4

solving this two equations, we get,

x = 24 , y = 20

x is length of rectangle and it is 24m.

y is breadth of rectangle and it is 20m.
