Given:-

A rectangle is made from a metallic rod.

That means,

Perimeter of the rectangle = 10 m.

And,

The length of the rectangle is 1 m more than the breadth.

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x m.

So,

It's length = (x + 1) m

We know,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (length + breadth)

Hence,

→ 10 = 2 (x + x + 1)

→ 10 = 2 (2x + 1)

→ 10 = 4x + 2

→ 10 - 2 = 4x

→ 8 = 4x

→ 8/4 = x

→ 2 = x

Hence,

Breadth of the rectangle = x = 2 m

Length of the rectangle = x + 1 = 2 + 1 = 3 m.

Therefore, the dimensions of the rectangle are 3 m and 2 m.

ANSWER

Let x be the breadth of rectangle.

Therefore,

Length of rectangle (l)=(x+3)

Perimeter of rectangle =38m

As we know that,

Perimeter of rectangle =2(l+b)

∴2((x+3)+x)=38

⇒2x+3=

2

38

⇒2x=19−3

⇒x=

2

16

=8m

Therefore,

l=x+3=8+3=11m

Hence the length and breadth of rectangle is 11m and 8m respectively.
