A rectangle of dimensions 16cm *12 cm is inscribed in a circle (refer image)
Area of rectangle = 16 × 12 = 192m²
In triangle BDC, (refer image)
by using pythagoras theorem,
BD² = BC² + CD²
BD² = 16² + 12²
BD² = 256 + 144
BD² = 400
BD = 20cm
diameter of circle = BD = 20cm
radius of circle = diameter/2 = 20/2 = 10cm
Area of circle = π × 10² = 100 × 3.14 = 314 cm²
the area enclosed between the circle and the rectangle = Area of circle - Area of rectangle = 314 - 192 = 122 cm²
