A rectangle which is 4 metres longer than it is wide has a width of x metres and a perimeter of 40 metres. Form the equation.​

Answer:

Since width= x m

So, Length= x+4 m

Perimeter= 2(l+b)

But, Perimeter= 40 m (given)

The equation will be like:

2(x+4+x) =40

or, 2(2x+4) =40

or, 4x+8= 40

or, 4x=32

or, x= \frac{32}{4}

= 8

Hence, length = 8+4 =12m

and, width= 8m
