Strongest section in bending should be 1/root2.

As you can see in the figure, a rectangular beam is formed from a circular log of wood of diameter d. Due to log diameter you can’t exceed so much, you may be limited to both dimensions called width and depth.  

Large logs can produce variety of beams but its not possible in this particular case. There are variable allowable stress find because of these wood cut logs.
