Hi sis...

The machine is kept a low temperature because when the blood comes out of the body it is cold but the body temperature is far much higher than the room temperature. The machine is not exactly kept at 0° but it is maintained at a low temperature in order to stabilize the blood when it returns back to the body after purification .
