Given data :

Dimensions of rectangular block of metal :

  • Length of block, ( L ) = 0.24 m
  • Width of block, ( W ) = 0.19 m
  • Height of block, ( H ) = 0.15 m

The metal block is melted to form a cube.

To find : The length of each side of the cube ?

Solution : Now, according to given we know that shape of (rectangular) block is cuboid.

We need to find volume of rectangular block of metal;

Now, according to given,

⟹ Volume of rectangular block/cuboid

= L * W * H

⟹ Volume of rectangular block/cuboid

= 0.24 * 0.19 * 0.15

⟹ Volume of rectangular block/cuboid

= 0.0456 * 0.15

⟹ Volume of rectangular block/cuboid

= 0.00684 m³

We know that, the metal block is melted to form a cube.

Hence, Volume of rectangular block = Volume of cube

∴ Volume of cube = 0.00684 m³

Now, we use formula of volume of cube

⟹ Volume of cube = ( side )³

⟹ 0.00684 = ( side )³

⟹ side = ³√0.00684

⟹ side = 0.1898 m (approx)

Answer : All sides of the cube are equal, hence the length of each side of the cube is 0.1898 m (approx).
