Hi ,

dimensions of the first rectangular block :

length = l = 4cm ;

width = w = 5cm;

height = h = 6 cm ;

volume of the first rectangular metal block = v = lwh -----( 1 )

Dimension of the second rectangular block  :

length = L = 8cm ;

width = W = 3 cm ;

let height = H cm

volume of the second metal block = V = LWH----( 2 )

according to the problem ,

first block is melted and cast into second block, therefore volumes of

two blocks are equal.

V = v

( 2 ) = ( 1 )

LWH = lwh

H = lwh / LW

H = ( 4 cm × 5 cm × 6 cm ) / ( 8 cm × 3 cm )

H = 5 cm

Height of the second rectangular metal block = H = 5 cm

I hope this helps you.
