A rectangular block of wood 42cm by 18cm by 12cm is to be cut into cubes of side 3cm. How many small cubes can be cut?

let x be the no. of cubes

Volume of rectangle = x (volume of cube)

l x b x h                      = x ( L³)

42 x 18 x 12                = x ( 3³)

                                x = 42 X 18 X 12 / 3

                                   = 3024

∴ 3024 cubes of side 3cm can be made out of the rectangular block.
