A rectangular field has 80 m length and 48 m breadth.three roads each of 2 m pass through the field such that two roads are parallel to the breadth and the third road parallel to the length.find the area covered by the three roads. Area covered by the three roads 344 square meter

Area of  the rectangular field 80 x 48 = 3840 sq meter

Area of the  road parallel to the breadth  = 2 x 48 = 96 sq meter

so two roads are parallel to breadth side =2 x 96 =192 sq meter

Area of the  road parallel to the length  = 2 x 80 = 160 sq meter

Now this  road parallel to the length crosses the 2 road parallel to the breadth side. area of the crossing region is 2 x 2 = 4 sq meter.

Crossing happens twice, area of crossing is 2 x 4 =8 square meter

Area covered by the three roads is = two roads are parallel to breadth side+Area of the  road parallel to the length -area of crossing

=192+160-8

=344 square meter
