Area of the cross roads = 4416 m²

Area of the remaining field = 23584 m²

Solution:

Length of the field = 280 m

Breadth of the field = 100 m

Breadth of the road parallel to the length of the field = 12 m

Area of the road parallel to the length of the field

                            = 280 × 12

                            = 3360 m²

Length of the road parallel to the breadth of the field = 100 m

Area of the road parallel to the length of the field

                            = 100 × 12

                            = 1200 m²

Area of common road = side × side

                                     = 12 × 12

                                     = 144 m²

Area of the cross roads = 3360 m² + 1200 m² – 144 m²

                                        = 4416 m²

Area of the cross roads = 4416 m²

Area of the field = length × breadth

                           = 280 × 100

                           = 28000 m²

Area of the field = 28000 m²

Area of the remaining field = 28000 m² – 4416 m²

                                             = 23584 m²

Area of the remaining field = 23584 m²
