a rectangular field is 30 M and 40 m what distance is saved by walking diagonally across the field

Diagonal is given by  


D= √a2+b2


Where a and b are the length and breadth of the rectangle.


D=  √a2+b2


  = √302+402


  = √900+1600


 = √2500= 50.


Now, length of the field is 30m.


Breadth of the field is 40m.


And. Diagonal of the field is 50m.


Hence, the distance saved by walking diagonally across the field

Is 30+40-50


= 70- 50


= 20 m.
