Heya.

Your answer is here.

It is given that the length of field is 49 m and breadth of field is 35 m.
It is also given that there is a road from all sides of the field.

So, (in the attachment)  you can see that length of field will become 49-2 = 47 m.  (bcoz the road takes 1 m from both sides).
Same in the case of breadth, breadth of inner rectangle = 35 - 2 = 33 m.

(YOU CAN UNDERSTAND BETTER WITH THE HELP OF PICTURE)

Now, area of ABCD = 49 X 35 = 1715
Area of PQRS = 47 X 33 = 1551.

Now, area of road = ar (ABCD) - ar (PQRS)
= 1715 - 1551
= 164 m².

Hence, the area of road = 164 m².

Hope it helps

Hey there!

KINDLY SEE THE ATTACHMENT PIC. ABOVE

Length of Outer Field, L = 49 m
Length of Inner Field, l = 49 - 2 m = 47 m (1m path for road is subtracted from both sides)

Breadth of Outer field, B = 35 m
Breadth of Inner field, b = 35 - 2 m = 33m (1m path for road is subtracted from both sides)

AREA OF PATH = ar (ABCD) - ar (MNOP)

                          = L × B - l × b

                          = 49 X 35  -  47 X 33

                          = 1715 - 1551 m²

                         = 164 m²

Hence,
Area of the path is = 164 m²

HOPE IT HELPED ^_^
