A rectangular field is 80 m. long and 60 m wide. In the middle of it there are two paths 5 m wide parallel to the length and breadth. How many stones of 0.5 m square will be taken to make the floor on the way?​

Area of the road parallel to the length = 5m x 80m

=400m^2

Area of the road parallel to the breadth = 5m x 60m

= 300m^2

The overlapping area of the road at their cross section

= 5m x 5m

= 25m^2

Total area of the road

= (300+400-25) m^2

=675m^2

No. of stones for paving the road = (675 ÷ 0.5)

= 1350
