Given : ABCD is a rectangular field of Length = 40m, Breadth = 30m, ∠B=90

In the right angled triangle ABC,

By Pythagoras Theorem,

AC

=AB

+BC

=30

2

+40

2

=900+1600

=2500

∴AC=

2500

=50m

Distance from A to C through B is

=30+40=70m

Distance saved =70−50=20m.
