Answer:

The area of the path is 92 m^2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A rectangular garden has dimensions 11 m \times 8 m. A path of 2 m wide has to be  constructed along its sides.

To find:

Find the area of the path.

Solution:

Area of the garden = 8 \times 11 = 88 m^2

Area of the garden  after widening, length = 11 + 2 + 2 = 15 m

Breadth = 8 + 2 + 2 = 12 m

New area = 15\times12 = 180 m^2

Area of the path = 180 – 88 = 92 m^2

Result:

The area of the path in the rectangular garden is 92 m^2.
