5m^2

Step-by-step explanation:

area of glass =l*b

=> 2*3.5

=> 7 m^2

let maximum side of a square =2cm(side of square be equal)

area of square =side*side

=> 2*2

=> 4m^2

hence the leftover size of glass(7-2)m^2=5m^2

Given:

  • A rectangular glass of 2m \times 3.5 m ,a  square of maximum size has been cut from it.

To Find:

  • What will be the shape and size of the leftover glass.

Solution:

First we will find the area of the graph

          Area of glass =length \times breadth

                                   = 2 \times 3.5\\= 7 m^2

Let's assume maximum side of a square =2 cm

Area of square = side \times side

                          = 2 \times 2\\= 4m^2

The leftover size of glass = Area of glass -  Area of square

                                          =  (7-4)m^2\\=3m^2

Thus, leftover size of glass = 3m^2
