A rectangular grassyplot is 112m long and 78m broad. It has a gravel path 2.5m wide all around it on the inside. Find the area of path and the cost of constructing it at the rate of ₹4.50 per square metre.why didn't we add 5 to it instead of subtracting even though it is written all around it on it's side?

Area of Road= Area of plot -Area without Road

A=( 112×78) -{ (112-5) ×(78-5)}

A= 8736 - 7811

A=925 sq meter

cost of constructing road=925 ×4.50=4162.5

area \: of \: road =925 \: \\ cost \: of \: its \: construction = 4162.5 \: rupees
