Given data:-

A rectangular hall 15m long and 12m broad is surrounded by a verandhah 3m wide.

  • Let, L & B be the length & breadth of rectanglur hall which is 15m and 12m respectively. & 3m wide verandhah surrounded by rectangular hall.

Solution:-

According to qiestion to find area of verandhah.

Now,

—› Length ( L ) of rectangle hall

= 15m .....( 1 )

—› Breadth ( B ) of rectangle hall

= 12m .....( 2 )

and

—› Length ( L ) of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = {15 + 3 + 3} m .... ( 3 )

—› Breadth ( B ) of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = {12 + 3 + 3} m .... ( 4 )

Now, we use formula to find area of rectangle hall and rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah.

—› Area of rectangle hall = L × B

{ from ( 1 ) & ( 2 ) }

—› Area of rectangle hall = 15 × 12

—› Area of rectangle hall = 180 m² ....( 5 )

—› Area of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = L × B

{ from ( 3 ) & ( 4 ) }

—› Area of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = {15 + 3 + 3} × {12 + 3 + 3}

—› Area of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = 21 × 18

—› Area of rectangle hall with 3m wide verandhah = 378 m² .....( 6 )

For Area of verandhah subtract eq. ( 5 ) from ( 6 ). hence,

—› Area of verandhah = 378 - 180

—› Area of verandhah = 198

Hence,the area of verandhah

is 198 m².
