Length of hall,L=10m

breadth of hall,B=7m

Length of carpet, l = Length of hall- margin = 10-1=9m

breadth of carpet, b = breadth of hall - margin = 7-1=6m

area of carpet = l×b

                       = 6×9= 54 m^2

area of the uncovered floor = L×B - l×b

                                               = 7×10 - 6×9

                                                =70 -54 = 16 m^2
