Answer:

Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)

146 = 2(49 + 2a)

49 + 2a = 146/2 = 73

2a = 73 - 49 = 24

Thus, a = 24/2 = 12

we know that,

 \boxed{ \gray{ \sf{Perimeter \:  of \:  rectangle = 2(l + b)}}}

so,

 \sf \: Perimeter \:  of \:  rectangle = 2(l + b) \\ :   \implies \sf \: 146 \: cm = 2(49 + 2a) \\  \sf :  \implies \frac{146}{2}  = 49 + 2a \\  \\  \sf :  \implies73 = 49 + 2a \\  \sf :  \implies73 - 49 = 2a \\  \sf :  \implies24 = 2a \\  \sf :  \implies \: a =  \frac{ \cancel{24}  \: ^{12} }{ \cancel{2}  \: ^{1} }  \\  \\   \boxed{ \green{\sf  :  \implies \: a = 12 \:  \:  \: ans...}}
