A rectangular is 22m long and 12m wide. From it corners quadrants of radius 2.5m have been cut. Find the area of the remaining part.

Answer:

Area of rectangle = L × B

∴ Area of rectangle = 22 × 12

                                = 264 cm²  ------------------ (1)

Area of corners with radius 2.5 cm is given by (Here ∅ = 90°)

Area of corner = ∅ / 360° × πr²

                          = 90/360 × 3.14 × 2.5 × 2.5

                          = 1/4 × 19.625

∴  Area of corner = 4.90625 cm²

In Rectangle there are 4 corners

∴  Area of 4 corners = 4 × 4.90625 = 19.625 cm² ------------(2)

∴  Area of remaining part = Area of rectangle - Area of 4 corners

                                          = 264 - 19.625

∴  Area of remaining part = 244.375 cm²
