A rectangular lawn 70 mx 30 m has two roads each 5 metres
wide, running in the middle of it, one parallel to the length
and the other parallel to the breadth. Find the cost of
gravelling the road at the rate of 4 per square metre.

Area of the road=40×5+60×5−5×5

                         =200+300−25

                         =475sqm

Given,

Cost of graveling the roads =60 paise per sq meter.

∴475×60paise

=28500 paise

=Rs.285
