A rectangular lawn is 56 m long and 24 m broad. Two cross roads of 2m width running parallel to the length and breadth are made. On one corner of the lawn a small temple is made of length 5m and breadth 4m . On the other corner there is an ice cream shop of length 3m and breadth 4 m . On the third corner there is a play area with swing and a slide., the length and breadth of this area is 5m each. The last corner has a small swimming pool for children with length and breadth of 7m and 7 m respectively .The part of the ground other than the temple, ice cream shop , play area and swimming pool is covered with lawn.

Solution :-

→ Length of rectangular lawn = 56 m

→ Breadth of rectangular lawn = 24 m

→ Width of roads = 2 m .

so,

→ Area of roads = 56 * 2 + 24 * 2 - 2 * 2 = 112 + 48 - 4 = 156 m²

now,

→ Area of temple = 5 * 4 = 20 m²

→ Area of ice cream shop = 3 * 4 = 12 m²

→ Area of play area with swing and a slide = 5 * 5 = 25 m²

→ Area of swimming pool = 7 * 7 = 49 m²

then,

→ Remaining are of rectangular lawn = 56 * 24 - (156 + 20 + 12 + 25 + 49) = 1344 - 262 = 1082 (Ans.)
