Given- a rectangular lawn has sides 60m and 40m

To find - the time taken by a man to walk along its diagonal at speed 3km/hr

Proof - let ABCD be the rectangle with AB=DC=60m and BC= AD=40m

Now, join AC

In triangle ABC, by Pythagoras theorem AC square is equal to AB square plus BC square

Therefore, 60^2 + 40^2= AC^2

AC^2=5200m

AC=72.1m

Time taken to travel 3km is 1hr

So time taken to travel 72.1m =72.1*60*1/3000

=1.44min approx

Answer:86.53 sec

Step-by-step explanation:diagonal=root of L square + root of b square

=3600+1600=root of 5200= 72.11m

Then convert 3 km in second

=3×5÷18=5÷6sec

72.11×6÷5=86.53 sec
