A rectangular mat of 5 m x 3.5 m had a border of width 1.8 m all around it. If the cost of the mat is Rs . 272/m², find the cost for bordering the mat.

Answer:

As the dimensions of the mat are 5 and 3.5

therefore it's area Will be 5×3.5=17.5

Now as the width of the border is 1.8

So, substract 1.8 from dimensions

Now the new dimension are 1.7and 3.2

And it's area Will be 1.7×3.2= 5.44

As the cost of mat is 272/m^2

therefore cost of 1 m will be 272÷17.5

and cost of 5.44 m ( border ) = 272÷175 × 5.44

That is 187.44
