Volume of remaining solid is 152 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

  • Length of rectangular metal block is 10 cm.
  • Breadth of rectangular metal block is 8 cm.
  • Height of rectangular metal block is 2 cm.
  • Length of side of cubical hole is 2 cm.

To find:-

  • Volume of remaining solid after drilling out cubical hole.

Solution:-

  • The three dimensional shape of rectangle is cuboid. So, Shape of block is cuboidal.

Concept :-

  • We will find Volume of rectangular metal block and volume of cubical hole because if we take out the volume of cubical hole from volume of rectangular metal block than we will get our Volume of remaining solid.

~__________________~

Volume of cuboid= Length × breadth × height

= 10 × 8 × 2

= 80 × 2

= 160

Volume of rectangular metal block is 160 cm³.

Volume of cube = (side)³

= (2)³

= 2 × 2 × 2

= 8

Volume of cubical hole is 8 cm³.

Volume of remaining solid = Volume of rectangular metal block - Volume of cubical hole

= 160 - 8

= 152

Volume of remaining solid is 152 cm³.
