Hi, Vishalvidhya very good morning to u, I hope this will help you

The length of the park is 12m and its width is 5m      [given]

If you travel through AB+BC then you travel =[ 12m+5m ] = 17m

Now if you travel  diagonally through AC your distance will be shorter

Here is your proof

To find out the diagonal AC you have to apply Pythagorean theorem which is hypotenuse^2 = base^2 + height^2 [ hypotenuse =AC, base=AB ,height = BC]

AC^2  = AB^2 +BC^2

AC^2 =12^2 + 5^2

AC^2=144+25 =169

AC =√169 =√[13*13]  =13 m

now see  13m < 1 7m so if you go diagonally through AC your distance will be shorter by [1 7m - 13m] = 4m ANS
