A rectangular park has two pathways 2metre wide built parallel to the sides of the park. If the length and breadth of the park are 24metre and 16metre; find the area taken up by the pathways and also the area of remaining park.

Answer:

area of pathways= 2W(L+B+2W)

= 2×2(24+16+2×2)

=4×44

=176m^2

area of remaining park =area of park - area pathways

=24×16-176

=385-176

=208m^2
