Area of path is 276 m².

Given:

  • A rectangular Park is 25 m long and 15 m wide.
  • A path 3 m is constructed outside the park.

To Find:

  • Find the area of the path.

Solution:

Formula/Concept to be used:

  1. Area of rectangle: Length×breadth
  2. Area of path: Area of rectangle PQRS- Area of rectangle ABCD.

*See the attached figure.

Step 1:

Find the area of rectangle ABCD.

Its length = 25 m

Breadth = 15 m

Area of rectangle ABCD= 25×15= 375 m²

Step 2:

Find the area of rectangle PQRS.

Length and breadth both are increased by 6 m, because the path is 3 m wide from all sides,

Its length = 25+6=31 m

Breadth = 15+6=21 m

Area of rectangle PQRS= 31×21= 651 m²

Step 3:

Find area of path.

Area of path: Area of rectangle PQRS- Area of rectangle ABCD.

Area of path= 651-375 m²

Area of path= 276 m²

Thus,

Area of path is 276 m².
