area of path is  area of park with path - area of rectangular park
area of park =l x b= 45 x 30=1350 cm2
area of park with path is =45+2.5+2.5 x 30+2.5+2.5 = 1750cm2
area of path = 1750-1350=400 cm2

Given:

a rectangular park is 45 m long and 30 m wide. a path 2.5 m wide is constructed outside the park

To Find:

find the area of the path

Solution:

we are given a rectangular park of dimensions 45m*30m and a wide path of 2.5m is to be constructed outside the park so the dimensions of the park with path inside them will be,

Length= 45+2.5+2.5

           =50m

Breadth=30+2.5+2.5

             =35m

So the area of the required path will be the area of the greater park minus the area of the park,( we should also know the formula for the area of a rectangle that is)

Area=l*b

where,

          l= length

          b= breadth

Now the area of the path,

Area=50*35-45*30\\=1750-1350\\=400m^2

Hence, the area of the path is 400m^2.
