Answer:

A rectangular park is 65 m and 40 m wide. A path 3.5 m wide is constructed outside the park. The area of the path is 784 sq. m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Length of rectangular park = 65 m

Breadth of rectangular park = 40 m

So, find the area of the park

Area of park =l × b

=65 × 40

=2600 sq. m

If a path 3.5 m wide is  constructed outside the  park

Then the length of the park with path = 65 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 72 m

the breadth of the park with path = 40 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 47 m

Area of park with path is =length ×breadth

= 72× 47

=3384 sq.m

Therefore,

Area of path = Area of the park with path − Area of the rectangular park

= 3384 − 2600

=784 sq. m.

So, the area of the path is 784 sq. m.
