A rectangular picture has a length that is 2 inches shorter than the width and has an area of 180 square inches. Write an equation representing the situation in order to find the width of the picture

Answer:

let width be x

length=x-2

area = length * width

180=(x-2)*x

180 =x power 2 -2x

0= x^2-2x-180

a quadratic equation is formed.
