a rectangular piece is 20 m long and 15 m wide. from its four corners, quadrants of radii 3.5 m have been cut. find the area of the remaining part.

bittu2994: Correct. Another way is taking the four quadrants as a circle and calculating it's area and then subtracting it from the area of the rectangle. This is short and time saving.

First find the area of the rectangle. Then find the area of each quadrant and multiply it by 4 or simply consider the four quadrants as a circle(this will reduce your time & page consumption). Now subtract the area of the four quadrants (or circle) from the area of the rectangle.
