A rectangular piece of dimension 3cm x 2cm was cut from a rectangular sheet of paper of dimensions 6 cm x 5 cm.

(i) Find perimeter of original rectangular sheet (big rectangle) (ii) Find the area of original rectangular sheet (iii) Find the area of rectangular piece that has been cut from the rectangular sheet. (iv) Find the ratio of areas of the two rectangles (v) Find the area of shaded region​

Answer:

(i) perimeter of the original rectangular sheet= 2(l+b)

=2(6+5)= 2×11= 22cm

(ii) area of original rectangular sheet= l×b

=6×5=30cm²

(iii)area of smaller rectangular sheet=l×b

=3×2=6cm²

(iv) ratio= 30:6=5:1

(v) area of shaded region= 30-6= 24cm²
