Answer: 5/48 yes,it will float in water

Explanation: density = mass / volume

Where volume= 8×6×4, mass=20

Density = 20/(4×8×6)=5/48

Since density of water is 1gm/cm^3 which is greater than 5/48

So it will float

what is the density of the piece of wood? Will this piece float in water or not ?

\Large\tt{\underline{\underline{\blue{Solution}}}}

  • Length of rectangular piece = 4cm
  • Breadth of rectangular piece = 6cm
  • Height of rectangular piece = 8cm

Volume of rectangle

➡ Length × breadth × height

➡ 4 × 6 × 8

➡ 192cm³

_________________________________

  • Mass = 20g
  • Volume = 192cm³

As we know that

\implies\sf Density=\dfrac{Mass}{Volume} \\ \\ \\ \implies\sf Density =\dfrac{20}{192} \\ \\ \\ \implies\sf Density=0.10g/cm^3

  • Density of water = 1g/cm³

Hence, rectangular piece float on water
